Reviews
Haven't seen this one yet. It appears to have arrived under the radar last summer, direct to video. User review (yes, singular) on amazon.co.jp recommends renting it rather than buying it, summing up the movie as "boring". The official website doesn't look to hopeful:

It's a pity that Junji Ito's movies are, with very few exceptions, dubious teen idol vehicles - but I suppose that since most of the characters in his stories are teenagers, it's pretty inevitable.

Well the trailer, at least, is fine for me. *points the creppy woman*

Well, I don't bring good news: The Growning Drain is really, really bad. But it isn't a boring bad like Oshikiri - it's still fun in a cheap, incompotent sort of way. Incompotent how? Terrible editing, ridiculously poor sound in places (I suspect there was no boom mic and that they just used a consumer DV camera's built in mic...), the width of the picture is not constant (you can even see this in the screen captures on the info page up above). What plot it has is... well.... not that I liked the original story that much, but...

Anyway, it was nevertheless amusing and I don't regret renting it -- but in terms of production values I'd rank it below every single other Junji Ito movie (including Marronnier) and in terms of "fear" factor, I'd put it second last, just above Oshikiri.

-looks at pictures-
why does the stalker look like the incredible hulk?
well.. guess i wont be waiting for it to come to north america then, lol..
--Marionette
I though that it would be like the manga version. *trying to remember if there was a Hulk*

What I saw on the trailer made me laugh.
